Twelve years later, Stafford is gone but his name dominates the Lions’ record books, especially for most passing yards in a single game.

At the time, the Lions were only two years removed from their most recent 400-yard game (Jon Kitna in 2007) but it was just the fourth 400-yard game in franchise history. Matthew Stafford completed 26 of 43 passes for five touchdowns and 422 yards in a win over the Cleveland Browns in 2009, his rookie season. The Detroit Lions have struggled to consistently win games for most of their 90-year existence – and haven’t been successful against the spread in NFL betting lately – but have produced a lot of notable passing performances over the last decade.
